EXPERIENCE

  • The RIDING, CULINARY & LODGING Experience

    THE RIDING EXPERIENCE

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is a small mountain town in the Haute-Savoie département in the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. The Alps run deep with ski history and the Chamonix Valley is at the heart of skiing. From the 1st Winter Olympics in 1924, to the birthplace of modern extreme skiing, very few places can match the pure beauty of this valley. Situated near the massive peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges and most notably the Aiguille du Midi, Chamonix is one of the oldest ski resorts in France. Chamonix borders two countries and features seemingly never-ending vertical.

Over the course of one week you will have the opportunity to ski the historic Valley Blanche (one of the longest ski runs in the world), ski endless powder fields in 3 countries and ride the famous Aiguille du Midi cable car next to Mont Blanc. The entire week is captured by our photography team with each guest receiving photos of this once-in-a-lifetime trip. Learn the skills and techniques of the pros with local guides and professional athletes. With the aid of our local professional guides and friends, we will ensure the best experience possible for each day.

We will plan on skiing off the Aiguille du Midi, a day in Courmayeur, Italy, a day in Verbier, Switzerland, and a day in the famous Valley Blanche. That’s 6 days of skiing the Alps in France, Italy, and Switzerland all around the Mont Blanc Massif. The skiing options are endless each day and you will be in awe as you ski next to some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. There will be opportunities for daily ski tours and other activities around the valley like exploring the Mer de Glace glacier caves.

    THE CULINARY EXPERIENCE

Every morning a healthy breakfast with local ingredients will await you as we prep for the day. Lunches (not included) are enjoyed on the mountain or in local villages in each country along the way so you can sample a taste from all the areas we will visit. Experience the legendary Après Ski scene in the afternoon after skiing the best runs of your life.

There is nothing like celebrating this epic day with new friends, new memories and a cold beers at the bar while looking back up to the glaciers. Each day a new variety of flavors will leave you wanting more. We will experience the local fondue, raclette, and Savoie specialities that this region is well-known for. Enjoy a welcome and farewell dinner with the group and the rest of the dinners are open for you to explore the town and the several restaurants Chamonix has to offer.

    THE LODGING EXPERIENCE

le-grand-adventures-5-starsChamonix, Switzerland, Italy Ski Trip” – Great time! Absolutely loved every minute of this trip and the epic adventures that were setup by Le Grand. Jeff and Crystal do an amazing job coordinating everything from food, to procuring local guides for skiing, being our tour guides around the area, and making sure we are enjoying ourselves and getting us back home to our loved ones safely. I would definitely sign-up for another trip with LGA.

le-grand-adventures-5-starsChamonix Ski Trip (Chamonix, Verbier, Courmayeur), March 2016” – In one word – amazing. Chamonix is a must for any serious skier or rider. Prior to signing up for this trip, I had several conversations with the owners – Jeff and Crystal – about the trip expectations, type of skiing / riding we’ll be doing, necessary fitness, and safety. Although I did have prior experience with Powder Cat riding and heli-skiing, I never actually venture out to backcountry on my own, specially in place like Chamonix. Both Jeff and Crystal were really informative and genuinely wanted to provide their thoughts about the trip, and also point out the safety and the fact that each guide we would have will be IFMGA certified (the highest level of certification a mountain guide could obtain). Upon arriving to Chamonix, and upon meeting both Jeff and Crystal, I was really quickly convinced that I’m in the good hands.  The trip in short was everything I wanted and more. The guides were exceptional, transportation to / from chalet and the surrounding ski areas was great, food was amazing, and overall, people I had the chance to ride with were really unique and I felt safe skiing with them. Although no tour can promise you powder, I want to say that we did ride powder EVERY day, even though it didn’t snow in some places for several days! In addition to riding Chamonix backcountry, we had a chance to visit Verbier (SWI) and Courmayeur (ITA). Both days were for the books, but the experience in Courmayeur was something special.  I definitely recommend Le Grand Adventure Tours to any serious skier and rider. Do your research, work on your fitness, and be ready to really ski / ride some awesome lines. At the end, Jeff and Crystal will do everything for you to feel welcomed and to enjoy your skiing. How much skiing you will do, what lines you will ski, and how crazy it will get will only depend on your fitness, skiing / riding ability, and how much you want to be challenged. I would definitely sign-up for another trip with LGA.

le-grand-adventures-5-starsGREAT OFF-PISTE CHAMONIX SKI TRIP!!!!” – Practically the first thing Jeff will say to you is that he’s there to make you happy; and he and Crystal work hard to make it happen. Skiing in Europe is best done with a local guide, whether on or off groomed areas. Chamonix is really over half-a-dozen areas plus what’s in Italy just through the Mont Blanc tunnel. You can’t ski everything in a week regardless, but without a guide you’ll spend half your time just trying to find where to begin each day. Jeff and Crystal have it all coordinated! Airport transfer (both ways), beautiful, modern chalet, gourmet breakfasts and dinners, lift and local transit ticket purchase, and daily touring always with an eye to sun and snow conditions. They’re even the best of travel companions on this adventure. The tour, “le grand adventure”, is presently planned and best suited for the off-piste, out-of-bounds skier looking for an expertly guided entrance to more remote areas and safely conscious passage through some high risk and potentially fatal locations. My wife and I were more comfortable with a less extreme experience, and Jeff and Crystal worked hard to meet our needs as well as those of their, here-to-fore, more typical guest. As Jeff said, he’s there to make every guest happy. Le Grand Adventure Tours offers hard-to-find, pretty much all-inclusive (except airfare), international package ski tours to the destinations skiers of all types are anxious to experience.

le-grand-adventures-5-starsBeyond all expectations! These guys rule. The guides were incredibly knowledgable. The skiing was phenomenal. Decisions about where the best snow would be for the day’s conditions were always spot on. The terrain we skied matched the advanced level of the group, so that everyone was comfortably challenged. Accommodation was a lovely private chalet, super comfortable, and cleaned daily – a convenient short walk to town. The hot tub was a huge bonus. Private chefs provided exceptional feasts. Private daily ski transportation made travel easy. The professional photography came out amazing – such a nice treat to leave a trip like this with. No corners were cut. I always felt in good hands. I traveled solo and felt incredibly welcomed. I highly highly recommend joining a Le Grand Adventure Tour.
