Tahoe Junior Freeride Series – Sugar Bowl 2014

Being located in the Truckee-Tahoe area allows the Le Grand Adventure’s crew participate in local community events. One of the most popular winter events is the Tahoe Junior Freeride Series. This 3 stop series includes Sugar Bowl Resort, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. The local junior crew of skiers and snowboarders are among some of the best in the country. The ski teams and coaches at each location have developed programs that allow the kids to build a successful ski area along side their educations. Not a bad way to spend your day- go to school in the morning and ski in the afternoon at some of the best resorts in California!

We were lucky enough to be asked to judge the contest at Sugar Bowl Resort on March 8th & 9th 2014. Over the 2 days of skiing in spring like conditions (CA has had a tough year for snow), some of the ebst skiing of the year went down over the weekend. Not only are the junior boys 15-18yrs old skiing like well rounded adults but the girls are charging the mountains like never before. If you ever get a chance to watch one of these events I would highly recommend it, you will be amazed what these young athletes can do.

A big shout out to some of the local coaches-Sean Carey, Trevor Tanhoff, Jason Dobbs and Eric Deslauriers for an incredible job! Congratulations to all the kids who competed, the families and everyone that help make this event happen.
